Foreign students can study at universities in Turkey without taking entrance exams. The universities accepting foreign students without entrance exams are foundation universities. These universities, commonly referred to as “private universities”, allocate special quotas for foreign students. There are a total of 76 universities where foreign students can study without taking the Foreign Student Exam.
The YÖS exam, known as the foreign student exam, is required to study at state universities. Universities that accept foreign students without an exam are foundation universities.
Students applying to foundation universities do not need to take the YÖS exam. It is important to pay attention to the application dates and follow the quotas.

Foreign students can apply to foundation (private) universities in Turkey without taking an entrance exam. The quotas for foreign students and Turkish students in Turkey are completely separate. Therefore, the annual tuition fees that students pay to universities may vary.
Private University Fees for Foreign Students
The annual tuition fees for foreign students at foundation (private) universities are determined by the university rectorates. At these universities, annual tuition fees vary from university to university. The annual tuition fees for foreign students are calculated in US dollars (USD).
As it is the most widely accepted currency internationally and the most common currency that can be easily paid from anywhere in the world, the tuition fees for foreign students at universities in Turkey are calculated in Dollars. Various universities in Turkey offer the option to pay your annual tuition fees in TL or EUR.

To apply to private (foundation) universities in Turkey as an international student, students must first be high school graduates or in their final year of high school. There is no need to wait for a high school diploma before applying.
Students in their final year of high school can apply to our universities with their 12th-grade (first semester) transcripts.
Private (foundation) universities in Turkey determine their own admission criteria for international students. Therefore, admission criteria vary from university to university. The minimum expected GPA is 50 out of 100.
To apply to universities without an entrance exam as a foreign student, certain citizenship and/or educational criteria must be met.

As a foreign student, you do not need TOEFL or IELTS to study in English in Turkey. Universities conduct their own English proficiency exams. If you fail these exams, you will need to complete a one-year English preparatory course. If you have IELTS or TOEFL exam results and a score that meets the university's criteria, you do not need to take an English Language Proficiency Exam.
Students who have completed their education abroad and wish to study in Turkish at private universities are required to take a Turkish Proficiency Exam. If students have C1 level Turkish Proficiency Exam results, they can start their studies directly.
Private universities generally require a deposit of $1000.00 as a prepayment.
This deposit is non-refundable and will be deducted from your tuition fee upon registration.
In some private universities, the deposit payment varies from department to department.
Registration Procedures
There are a total of 76 universities where you can study without taking the Foreign Student Exam. These universities have special quotas for foreign students. Applicants wishing to apply should follow the steps below.
After completing the Foreign Student Application Form, an offer letter will be sent to your email address by our universities.
Please pay the deposit fee stated on the offer letter from your chosen university into the university's official bank account. The deposit fee is part of your annual tuition fee.
Once the deposit fee has reached your university and the university's finance department has approved your fee, the university will send you an Official Acceptance Letter via email.
